Little Chef

Happy Halloween! Today, Gerald took us to the Bowling Green Orchestra's SPOOKTACULAR concert at the Capitol Arts Theater downtown on the square. This concert was geared towards kids and the orchestra serenaded us for an hour with spooky, scary music. Garrett, once again, sat enthralled! He truly loves going to these orchestra concerts. Gerald told me the kids could dress up, so we dressed Garrett in his Little Chef costume and off we went. What we didn't realize is that there was going to be a costume contest during the concert. On about the third song the conductor announced that all the children were to get up and march in the "costume parade" as the orchestra played and the judges would judge the costumes for 3 categories: funniest, scariest, and best overall. There were about 60 kids I'd say and the costumes were really, really good. I really didn't think Garrett would place at all. During the last song the winners were announced. The first category was funniest. The conductor asked for a drum roll and then said, "And the winner is: The Little Chef!" Garrett stood up as the spotlight was shown right on him! He got off my lap and walked down to the front and took his prize from the witch. A $25 Toys R Us giftcard! It was hilarious! It was totally random, funny, and unexpected. Those are the best moments!

After the concert we took pics with the conductor, our friends Daniel and Rebecca (who went with us), and the Little Chef :) Then all the children were allowed to trick or treat around the square at various businesses. Garrett walked with his pail and walked in every store and got his candy. In the words of one woman who stopped and asked how old Garrett was, "He acts like he has been doing this for years!" He truly is a gift from God who brings happiness into every person's life he comes in contact with. What a treasure he is! We love him so much!
